A Wednesday Evening Out With Classmates At A Local Cabaret Leads To Drinking Issues And An Alcohol Overdose

When Lois was in high school, she had gained a reputation as an individual who hit the books real hard and who rarely, if ever, had fun drinking with her pals. She seemed determined to do well academically so that she would be able to secure a career that she not only got pleasure from but one that also gave her some security from a financial point of view.

After Lois graduated from high school, she applied to and was accepted into a highly rated program in religion. Her rationale for this decision was that this subject would be good preparation for law school and would not be identical to the preponderance of law school applicants who select political science as their undergraduate major.

Lois was the type of person who worked in a rigorous manner to reach her objective and then would take a rest when she could. As is the case, however, most of the things she did between terms or during her summer vacations were unrelated to drinking. It almost goes without saying that Lois was anything but a partygoer. Now that her final exams for her second year in law school were over and elated with the fact that she had done very well on her exams, nevertheless, she wanted to let her hair down and do something enjoyable.

So Lois and a number of her classmates went to a local saloon where they started to have a few drinks. As the evening progressed, Lois and her classmates continued to drink. In truth, she was having such a great time that she didn't want the night to end.

After drinking around two hours when Lois began to slur her speech, talk in a confused manner, and then pass out, however, her friends instantaneously knew that they needed to call that they needed to call the emergency number and ask for medical assistance because they thought that Lois was displaying alcohol poisoning symptoms.

Lois was very aware that she came close to losing her life due to an alcohol overdose and, as a result, was happy to be alive. At the same time, nonetheless, she was somewhat depressed knowing that she had almost died the night before. Her Mother and Father knew how intensely she studied at school and how little she permitted herself to socialize with her friends. Nevertheless, they also knew that Lois needed to keep away from abusive and irresponsible drinking.

As a result, they recommended that in the future, whenever a drinking situation unfolds, that she always drink responsibly. Lois was fine with this and gave her word to her friends and to her parents that she would never ever drink in an irresponsible and excessive manner. In her own words, "I never pondered the fact that I would become one of the alcohol poisoning statistics in the local newspaper. I now grasp the fact that abusive and unhealthy drinking is not for me. I swear that this will never happen again."

Fortunately, Lois was not only "school smart" but she also displayed a lot of. That is, she rapidly realized that she had made a mistake and made up her mind that she would never make the same error again. In truth, she now understood that she had involved herself in "binge drinking" and that even one instance of this kind of abusive and excessive drinking can result in death.
